Yep, well there can be huge variations in the qualitiy of spark, how else do you explain the diminishing performance of points ign. as they wear out they weaken the voltage and duration of the spark the plugs get, and with that gos diminishing gas mileage. The pertronix, are excellent at all of the things leonva mentions but even better is you will almost never have to adjust timing again to make up for worn points cond. etc, unless your timing chain and dist. wear out.. I ran a pertronix in my 71 BMW 2002 for over 5 years and never did the ign. timing change and never did I have a moments problem from it,,, plus better starts running etc. Upgrade to a good Bosch coil at the same time if yours is old, and you will much enjoy your ride. Remember the pertronix is not an electronic ignition, it is just a optical pick up system of making and breaking the spark control, you still use a normal 12v coil, but get a good strong OE one, Not one of the aftermarket SUPER HOT 1Million Volts coils, they will do nothing but cost you more money.. good luck..
