I'm looking at this '59 190D, I think that I fell in love with it already, but can anyone out there tell me anything about it? I do not know much about Mercedes Diesels. And from that far back. Is it direct injected. From the pictures I've gotten I cannot tell, and I'm sure this seller has no idea what he's got. I'm going to look at it later this afternoon. Sooo I'm in kind of a hurry! Thanks all you people out there!

See lots of info at Mercedes-Benz Pontons (1953-1962) © www.mbzponton.org. Join our ponton discussion group too. We've got over 600 owners and lots of diesels. And the "D" does mean diesel. In the adenauers, the "d" in 300d did not mean diesel.

Yes the "D" did in fact mean diesel. No it is not direct injected. It had a very basic gear driven injection pump with an injector for each cylinder. Very reliable and the whole car is tough as nails in general (unless rust sets in) this is one of the motorcars that formed a reputation Daimler Benz in countries all over the world especially the middle east.
