Question Old Centra Rims

Hey everybody,
I just bought a 1973 450 SEL to replace my grandparents 1973 450 SE which I inherited back in the late 80's. I want to switch the SE's rims over to the new SEL, but the center caps are a little worn from cleaning.
The rims are Centra 31 that I got from The Tire Rack back in 1991. I believe Centra was bought out by Ronal and the rims were discontinued in 1995.
I found some chrome center caps on E-Bay, but I need the polished aluminum
ones. Any idea of where to look for these?
Thanks for any help.
J.B.:confused

you are gonna be hard pressed to find the centras or anything dealing with them anywhere. i have been looking for sometime now. i would try looking in local junkyards that have benz cars. ive got a set that the chrome is flaking off, and i almost got lucky after hurricane katrina and found some in a junkyard for 25 a piece. then i rolled over some loose lumber, w/nails, in my truck and had to use that money to buy tires. the guy then sold 'em to someone else :-( sorry i digress; keep trolling ebay and the for sale section!

Thanks, I had a sinking feeling that I would be back in the junkyard hoping for a great find. In the mean time I'll keep my eye on E-Bay and hope for the best. This may not be as easy as restoring my 1971 Ford F100 Ranger XLT pick-up, but I do love a challenge and my SEL.
Thanks again, J.B.

Yes they are. They are held on with a tamper proof bolt.

Yes in fact those are the exact ones. Mine are scuffed up from excessive cleaning and the bolt on star is pitted. Do you know if they originally came with a clear coat finish?
Also on my rims the notches on the outer rim are painted black.

I luckily got those locally and admit that those come rare nowadays. I believe someone is a selling a complete set (chrome finish) complete with caps, lugs and keys at the Classified Section.

I'm just after the non-chrome center caps. I think I may end up getting mine refinished somehow. In my opinion chrome is for cragars on a 60's muscle car, not my Benz. I like the subtle look of the polished aluminum.

+1. Just have it refurbished. Cheaper and looks more "classy".
