Engine Swap Question?????

I own a 300sel 4.5l (w109) 1973.
I'm considering swapping out the engine and tranny with a 560 engine and trans.

My question is this:
Will such a swap lower the worth of my car when I'm ready to sale years from now??

Thanks,
Jim

For my two cents, yes. Anyone who wants a cherry classic Benz would look for originality.

That stated though, I'm looking to put a Dodge hemi into a '71 300... If you do the swap, keep us posted. I wouldn't mind hearing how it all went!

If the conversion is done in a professional manner and no cutting/welding is done to to car I can't imagine it would decrease the value. But you may spend money on the conversion you will not recover if you sell the car. If it is a pristine example I would not modifiy it-that may affect value. Why do you want to swap the engine?

I don't think anyone would be able to tell the difference. The engines look the same. You would need all the 5.6 CIS-E electronics and wiring though.

Not part of the in-crowd since 1952. It's BRAKES not breaks. You break a bone, use brakes to stop your car. /rant

Thinks for the input guys. My reason for even considering the swap is because my 4.5 is shot and in need of an overhaul.
I have access to a 91 560sel engine and transmission that was rear ended in an accident that's cheaper than another 4.5.

I also know that the 560 is a much quitter and of coarse has more power than the 4.5, so the swap has always been on my mind.

thanks again. I'll post photos if an when I do the swap.

What are the differences in displacement and horsepower between the two engines? This brings to mind tranny options too... Think I'll start a new thread.
