The Landaulette version of the LWB 600, the Gullwing, the two door two seater cabriolet 540K, the low grille cabriolet and coupe 280SE3.5, the W111 280CE, the cabriolet version of the Ponton and the cabriolet 170V.

All great cars from a great marque, even though they have been photographed and painted to death. My two cents worth.

Please post your paintings on Benzworld for us to admire.

Hi Raj,

I don't have any MBZ paintings to photograph yet but here's one I'm just finishing of the Aston Martin DBR9. I tend to do more segmented pieces such as this, focusing on specific parts or views of a car, for original works that I plan to make and sell prints of... more pop art in style. If I'm working on a commission of someone's personal car those tend to be more traditional 3/4 views of the entire vehicle, but whatever the client wants is what I paint of course.

Enjoy and thank you for your interest!

Hi,

That is indeed a lovely painting. The colors are rather stark and vibrant more like eastern cars. Perhaps the number 007 would have been more appropriate, connecting the Aston Martin with a certain Mr. Bond, or perhaps you wanted to avoid James all together.

I am sure all of us on this forum would love to see your paintings of MBs whenever they are done.

This DBR9 is specific to a particular car, the only reason it carries the number 009 rather than 007. They do have a factory racer numbered 007 but it is green with red accents I believe and I really wanted to paint the Gulf Oil livery homage because, like you, the colors really appeal to my eye.

Here's a newly completed 280se painting. (Apologies for the pixelation and darkness of the image, I'll try for better pics soon.) I was actually planning to do a 600swb or vintage SL but this was a special request so it came first and was based on a photo that was supplied to me. Originally the body was done in silver, but then I realized not everyone can afford an original painting, and if you buy a more affordable print you would be limited with the color of the car. By doing this original in white it allows buyers to custom order a print that I can then go in and hand match the paint color and details to their personal vehicle such as license numbers, and even turn it into a convertible, change headlamps, signal lamps, etc. If this doesn't cause too many headaches, I will use this method in the future when I paint other models to allow more options for clients.

I do use a highly stylized form for the background, again calling on my pop art sensibilities, but it helps set my work apart from other car artists and has given me a unique niche in the art world, especially among younger or more advanced collectors who want something different than the norm.

The 280SE painting is very good, the wide angle perspective accentuates the length of the car. The long hood and the short boot makes a handsome car more better looking. The dark background adds mystery to the painting.

That would be a fun car to paint, I'll keep it in the roster.
Also, thanks for your continued kind words Raj and others, very much appreciated.

Please continue to make your suggestions, I'd love to keep this thread running indefinitely as I will always need the next project to move on to and your input is very helpful. Probably going to tackle the 600 next... will put up progress reports as I move ahead.
