Valve stems for older Bundt Wheels

I reecently picked up a set of Bundt wheels ro replace the wheels on my '85 380 SL. The wheels are obviously from a much older car (maybe an early '70's 280 SE?) Part # 1084001002. Here is my problem. The wheel is pretty thick at the stem hole, and a modern pull through stem will not seat. I have since looked at later Bundts and they have a machined surface on the back at the hole to make them thinner there to accept a regular stem.

Does anyone here have experience with these older thicker wheels and is there a part # or source for the correct valve stem? I have done quite a bit of research, and tried off-the-shelf screw-on stems, but they will not work because the screw and washer are on the outside, and do not fit in the rim groove. I have ordered a set of "Enkei-style" stems that have a nut on the back, but I do not yet know if they will work until they arrive next week. I have my doubts, however.

Any advice?

Mike

'Valve stem' is normally inside the engine.. Not on the wheel bolts or nuts..
I'm not that good in technical term on bolts, but it could be correct to call it a long-stem-bolt.. ??

And what do you mean by Nut+Washer ?
Mercedes usually have bolts, sometimes with a washer, but normally not..
Mercedes Classic center should be able to help you, yes..

Sorry for technically incorrect language. I am referring to the air inflation valve on tubeless tire rims. If you read the post, I think it is self-explanatory, but you are right about valve stems. Bad ju ju for searches. I just have some odd Bundt rims that are frustrating me. I will check with the Classic center on Monday - and thanks for the suggestion...

I know my 1980 does not have matching valve stems. Some are rubber while another is metal with a nut to tighten it in the hole. I would suggest you either go to your local Mercedes dealer or call a place that specializes in Mercedes parts and order the correct stems for the car they came off of. You're probably not going to find the correct one in the local stores.

P.S. Valve stem is the correct name for the parts you are looking for.

Thanks for the posts. I called the Classic Center and gave them the Part # on the wheels. They x-ref'd a valve stem # & I have ordered them. ($3 per, not bad). I hope they are right when they arrive - I'll post. It is great to have such factory support for a 30-50 year old cars. You would NEVER find that with GM. HAH! Great forum, and thanks again. I have my fingers crossed right now...

Curious, what part number of valve stems did they give you? I looked up the Russian EPC site but could not find a P/N for the valve stem even for 108/123 part number'd Bundts.

Not to dig up an old thread or anything but...

I just bought a set of bundts that I'm currently restoring and it turns out they came off of a W108 at some point in their past life. And yes, they're the ones that won't accept your normal valve stem like the newer versions do. Here's the part number you need: 107-400-00-13

1982 240D - Daily rig
1985 380SE - Gone but not forgotten
1987 Vanagon - Sold
Looking for a 300SD, TD or TE

Yes, I just looked at my records and after the second time ordering that is the part that they sent me. It works great, but a bit expensive at $6.50 a pop plus shipping. Sure hope I can use these forever!
