M117 V8 LPG conversion

Is it worth it?

I currently have a 450SLC running on a aftermarket ECU Megasquirt and i am driving enough to be using almost a full tank every week. The goverment rebate offers $2k back on conversions, they usually costs between $2.5-4k, mine will be in the low end with the ability to use and tune my own ECU.

Aside from the question of is it worth it in cost terms, are the old 1974 mercedes iron block V8s going to be able to adapt to running on gas or will it be a up hill battle? Minly in terms of the Valves, i keep hearing about valve problems on LPG cars and that often need to get harder valves.

If i do convert to gas it will most likely be a full conversion to only run on LPG. And it will most likely be a modern system using LPI, liquid injection.

Anyone have any thoughts or suggestions about converting to LPG?
