grease nipples '79 280se (Euro)

Hiya, first post.
just drove my 'new to me' '79 down from nova scotia to NYC. a dream come true.

I wanted to treat it to a lube job down here but when i took it to a mechanic and they hoisted it, they said everything was cased/sealed and they couldn't do a lube job. (I convinced them to keep it up for a minute and I ran around with the WD40 and did what i could).

i had read on this forum about the nipple or zerk points. Does my model not have this or did the mechanic just miss them? I am worried about the stiffness of the suspension for all these ny potholes and whatnot, how can i help the car?

this is a Euro model im pretty sure.
thankyou

i think all the benzes like that are sealed with fluid around the points and therefore do not need to be greased, so they say, thats why there are no grease nipples for you to grease

I wonder if, after 30 odd years, the joint grease could use a top up or something.
What else can i lubricate to give the car a break after a really long drive?

You could stop using crap oil like WD40.. That's bearly good enough for a bike chain.
You could actually provoke squicking and other noises just by using that.. Because the thin oil could dissolve the grease, and thus make the joint dry out faster..

Exactly what points/places do you think the car needs lubrication ?
a '79 ? In europe that could mean both W116 and W126.. Wich is it ?

If it's a W126, I don't think there are any places that could or should be lubed.. Except from the door-hinges..
If it's a W116, the door-stoppers and hinges, together with the window-mechanism, are the only parts that could be GREASED (Not oiled)..
All other parts are sealed and should not need lubrication . At all..

Except from rear-axle, gearbox and engine of course.. Those should be replaced right away.. Along with filters..
The fuel-filter also..

most likely a w116 as a 280E wuld be a w123 iether way it's just the door hinges use some graphite lube spray. chaing rear gear lube and tranny fluid and engine oil if you don't know the last tiemthey were chaged. also change the power steering filter and fluid and brake fluid. that should do it.

thankyou guys, i do believe it is a 116. I am glad to hear that that everything is sealed and doesn't need care. I have already greased the window mechanisms and changed the powersteering fluid. I havn't changed the brake fluid though (should I get that done?)
Everything is going well so far on my journey, except when i entered Manhattan and the potholes and bumps really rattled the car. That is why i asked about lube first of all - because I felt that the car seemed to be jarring itself quite a lot when it hit a bump.

so i guess the question is now: what about front end suspension? can i do anything for it without replacing it?

also, when Eirik says above "Except from rear-axle, gearbox and engine of course.. Those should be replaced right away.."
what does he mean excately?

thanks folks

Hi..
I mean that all joints and bearings are sealed, and should not need need grease.
But, on the other hand.. The oil should be replaced in the rear-axle, the gearbox and motor too.. All fluid change.. If the car has been standing for some time, the oil could losse much of it's lubricating..
So, change all fluids.. Including the water/antifrost in the cooling system.

Brake fluid should be replaced every two years, regardless of model and year..

The fornt end suspension: Here you could put the car on a lift an have the bushings and bearings checked.. If the car has been standing for a long time, or the bushings are just plain old.. They might need replacing..
