68 250 se heater control

Hi, Folks Picked up a pretty neat old mb with body in good shape. Runs, but will be asking some carb questions. At this point, we need to get the heater control working as it runs good enough to drive, but November on the north coast can be a tad brutal. I haven't gone in there with a mirror yet, but what's the magic trick to get the controls out of the dash. This car has ac. Thanks in advance for any help. Al DeVo

I pulled the dash in my 280, and started with the glove box and door. I also took off the AC panel (be careful with the wire sensor), the ash tray, knobs and radio, and took off the wood dash panels one by one. After it's all out, you have access to the sliders and the inside guts of the dash.

It's been a few years, but the radio, dash speaker and glove box should be removed. Unhook the cables (without losing the cable clips), disconnect the electrical connection, remove the 10mm nuts that secure the unit to the dash via the trim plate. Then the whole unit should come out through the speaker hole. Patience helps. Good luck.
