Post BLINKER TRANSMITTER LOCATION W108 1970 280SEL

Does anyone know where the blinker transmitter is located on a w108 1970 280sel? It should be seperate from the emergency flasher.

Why shouldn't it be? because that is exactly where it is. :-)

The emergency flashers still work. Others have told me that some cars had seperate flashers for the turn signals.

Glad to hear the emergency and normal signal lights share the same flasher - I replaced mine a while ago. Glad to hear I wasn't taken for a ride!

Post Fixed for now.

I did trace the wiring diagram and the emergency flasher switch is tied to the turn signals. So I was going to remove the emergency flasher switch from the dash for inspection and decided to try the signals one more time before removing it and they began working again. I guess a little wiggle and push was all that was needed for now.

My 72 280SEL uses two flashers. One for the turn signals located under the dash on the drivers side and one for the emergency flashers which is contained in the switch itself.

A note on the turn flasher. If it is the correct part, you will find a small hole on the bottom between the prongs. This is an access port to adjust the flash rate. Leave it to Mercedes to put an adjustment into the turn signals. Makes sense though if you consider how far you would travel on the autoban between flashes. Need high speed for that application.
