rear license plate chrome parts & exhaust for 280se

The car I am restoring (1971 280se conv) is missing the two vertical chrome pieces that go left and right of the license plate. Anyone have any sources for these? They seem the same on all 280 W111 models so am presuming they are not too scarce.

Found that Miller do replacement hood pads.

Also having trouble locating a good supplier of a complete exhaust system (except headers). Someone posted this question before but the links to the mild steel option are not giving me any results

Thanks

Adrian

Cool a Cabriolet.
do you refer to those vertical license plate lamp holders?
Exhaust is an easy one, Timevalve for stainless steel. or aftermarket soft steel.

exactly, those are the ones I need.

I saw timevalve's stainless version but wondered if anyone had any preferred mild steel suppliers?

Thanks

I took mine off to the local exhaust shop without any issue. I found that they would do custom exhaust too...

The two...

license plate light housings are not "missing," they were never installed in the first place.

Your car is a European version, and the above were only installed on "official" U.S. imports by DB.

Your car most likely has the license plate light in a housing installed on the rear bumper; if so, you would need a new bumper and the vertical lamp housings to make the car appear "correct". If not any knowledgeable observer would know that the car is an EU version trying to "pass".

Good luck on the project...

License light

I think the Euro version light in the bumper looks much better than the clunky pair of lights on the US version. Also-on a related note: does anyone know If European market cars had the side marker lights? I know they did not have those round amber turn signals. My car has side marker lights but I think they were added when the car was imported to the US. I would like to restore my car to it's correct European appearance.
Tks

Ditch the DOT side markers, go with the euro rear license light, eliminate the turn signals lights alongside the grill, maybe Euro headlights too.

And then the true design intent will be evident. clean, timeless

An original exhaust will sound correct

Yes, mine has the alternative EU small license plate light. I have actualy welded in the holes drilled by someone who put cheap plastic hella lights where the turn signals usualy go. I was going to put on the correct US turn signals when I see a nice pair come up on eBay but maybe I should just leave it clean as suggested. I agree that the back valance looks neater without the US license plate lights.
Ahh, decisions!
