So the car turned out to be a 1986 500SL with a vin number of NH005874 on one registration then the VIN number wbd1070461a021405 on another. Which brought up even more questions with this car. This isn't the standard VIN format so I don't know how to do more research on the car on how much it is actually worth. Any ideas? Here are better pictures.

The car is a 500SL that was shipped to a dealer in Italy. It was a radio delete car, so the radio in it is after-market. The model year is "undefined." It was pretty much an unoptioned car--AC and limited slip were standard. It is an odd vehicle from its build sheet. There was no hardtop shown on the build sheet--I don't know 107s so I don't know if hardtops were standard. Hard to value, but at least you know what you have.

Don't know what possessed somebody to rebadge the car a 560, but that would make me suspicious of its maintenance treatment. Absolutely pristine 560SLs are going for low 20's, drivers for 15 or less. This one is probably in the 10-12 range.

Thanks for the help. One question what resource did you use to find all this out. I have been trying to figure out the history of this car but I am having no luck.

Our friends in the Russian Mercedes Club have a website where all you do is enter the VIN (for 1980 and later cars) and it pulls up the build sheet. The site is Mercedes-Benz Club Russia | Mercedes-Benz / VIN.

It's a handy little site for anyone looking to buy a car, because the build sheet tells you exactly what came out of the factory.
