electrical issue on 1970 280SE

hi i took a 1970 280SE in on a trade and as a favor the previous owner powerwashed the engine bay to get all the grime off before it was trailered up to me. when i got the car it would crank but would not build oil pressure and the cylinders would not fire, after calling him and finding out that he powerwashed it i tried everything that i could think of, i soaked the wires in WD40 and i switched out ignition coils on the hunch that it may have shorted out, nothing has worked so far and the wiring diagram in Chiltons dose not help. any information reguarding this problem would be most helpfull.
Thanks, Matt

no run after washing

First things, is it 6 or 8 cyl?
was the ignition system functioning?
Recent tune-up?
Check inside the distributor cap for moisture.
The distributor body has drain holes and will usually drain OK
(unless the bottom of the body is caked with oil crud).

I know that if everything is good the motors can take a direct blast ,
after all it is designed to go 100mph into a blinding rainstorm.
