Help! 1976 280SLC - what is the 'DEL' gauge

Hi there,

I recently bought a 76 280 SLC, and noticed a gauge beside the temp and fuel called 'DEL' (I think!), it's scale is 0 - 3. I'm pretty sure it has been sitting around 1/2 way since I've owned it and now just noticed that it's topping out at 3, and sometimes fluctuating back down to 2.

Firstly, does anyone know what this gauge is for?
And secondly, should I be concerned?

I will take a photo of the gauge tonight and post it.

Sorry to sound like an idiot, but I'm a foolish young lady that bought a vintage car that I don't know how to fix - Love must be blind!

Thanks for any help,

It is OEL...

which is German for "oil". You are speaking of the oil pressure gauge. On most older engines, the gauge pointer will sit somewhere around the mid position, and should move to the maximum position as engine speed increases.

Thanks a lot for that, I really appreciate it.
When I checked again this morning I saw that it was OEL, not DEL!

It's probably roughly a 0-3 bar pressure gauge. That would be 0-44 PSI. My '71 W113 has a 0-4 bar gauge if I'm not mistaken, and it pegs at anything above idle unless *very* hot.
