4 on the floor question...

Is a 4spd. manual floor shift rare on a W111?

They are out there...

mostly on the earlier versions, especially the 220SE.

The 280SE 3.5 was never officially imported to the U.S. with a manual transmission, but some "grey market" cars have them. Parts for these transmissions are extremely difficult to come by in the U.S., BTW...

You did not include your location, or which W111 you are interested in, so the above is just a general answer to your question.

My 1961 W111 220SEb Coupe is a manual 4 speed (floor). As mentioned above, usually found on 220 and 250 W111's.

My 67 W110 is a manual as well, although admitedly more common than the W111 cars, it's still pretty unique for Mercedes.

I have a stick shift 3.5 Coupe. I had the transmission rebuilt as part of my restoration and a well known Mercedes transmission rebuilder had it for almost 1.5 years.
