Angry Heater switch failure

The top right (number 2) heater control switch for my '71 250 has stopped working. The worst part being that it quit while in the on position and now the heater blows the whole time I drive. Wrong season for that sort of thing. I am wondering if there are any pointers for getting into the switch assembly and repairing it.

Just replace the switch...

It should be available as a separate piece from the heating/vent lever assembly; if the switch is original to the car it will be riveted to the assembly, and the rivets will have to be drilled out or the heads ground off.
The appropriate screws/bolts and nuts will have to be purchased.

There are two black securing screws in the upper corners of the vent face plate to be removed, and then the knob for the switch pulls straight out and the collar on the switch is removed with the appropriate tool.

Once the face plate in removed, the lever/switch assembly is held in place with two bolts. Remove the bolts and pull the assembly forward. The cables can then be detached.

I would recommend cleaning and lubricating the tracks in which the vent levers travel, as usually the grease present is old, sticky and dirty.

Good luck on the repair,
