W108 - Cruise Control

Hi folks,

I would like to have cruise control in my W108. Anyone already done this using parts from a W107/114 or so ?
What body would be best to get the parts from ?

Thx
Oskar

Most...

cruise control installations on 108/109 chassis are "aftermarket" units. You did not mention if the vehicle is an "S" or an "SE/L" as that does impact the physical installation.

its a 280SE 4.5.

I would like to stay as close as possible to 'factory look and feel'. Thats why I am considering to pull the parts from another MB chassis

The tempomat switch (A0045458724) from a 114 chassis should fit to the column, I hope

if you can find the original W116 cruise ( 350SE), that will almost bolt on to your engine and fit the car with little hassle .It's actually a Ford device with seperate switch ,it didn't have the column switch.
The later cruise( W116-W107 etc ) needs a speedo feed so if you want to use one of those you will need to use the speedo from a W114 with the tempomat connection. ( rare...)
Believe me,unless you have a week or two to strip old wiring looms and solder stuff together ,you may want to consider an after market unit.

well, I have a W114 parts car here and that one has the ford device.
So, thats probably the easiest route
I do not think that was original, the way it is fit in looks like quick n dirty. I actually did not expect a Ford unit in a MB :-). Live and learn ....
