the differences are in the linkages and connecting pieces, not in the transmissions themselves. MB didn't make one transmission housing for column shift cars and a different housing for floor shift cars.
Your new transmission can be modified to accept the mechanical input from the column shifter. That would be the easiest way to go; however, if you like the aesthetics of the console shifter, you are going to be replacing a bunch of parts, including the steering column shroud and center console piece...
thanks. I think that quite answers the question... But no, I will not be changing my console. I am leaving the column shift operable. DO NOT want a floor shift, which was my concern sincei nstalling the new tranny like it is would require me making a hole to the floor and changing my console.
thx. I will be doing everything myself (like always) lol. I learn the hard way sometimes, but I get it done! lol
yeah the car has a stock column shift with matchin tranny
the replacement tranny(floor shift) will be converted for column shift.
POSSIBLY throw in a 302 Ford engine, but that's just all talk for now...
There is only ONE difference, the hole on the shifter arm on the side of the trans. On a floor shift car it's on the forward most hole. On a column shift car the shifter arm has a bolt on extension that lowers the link from the firewall to position closer to the oil pan.
Everything else is the same, column or floor shift.
BTW, a Ford Windsor is a drop in fit,a far better idea than the more common Chev swap which wont clear the steering drag link.

Need a diagram and even better the link for the online manual for the fuel Pump installation.
Bought this car but the pump and filter were removed and need to ensure it is installed correctly.
