I just bought this vehicle and after 100 miles it has lost power. I step on the gas and it very slowly builds up to a decent speed. The previous owner replaced the battery recently. I am thinking I might have an alternator problem. Any suggestions?

Your car...

being a "C," rather than a "CE," has the infamous 4 barrel carb that is known to be quite troublesome... I believe there were in excess of 40 "modifications" to the original carb in an effort to make it work with the emissions controls required in the U.S.

The lack of power could be caused by a number of things: the carb, a partially blocked fuel filter, bad ignition timing, air leaks, etc.

If you are not familiar with the vehicle, perhaps you should have it looked at by someone who is... no offense intended here, but there are many potential causes of your problem, and diagnosing it over the Internet is a tough proposition...

Good luck,
