This issue has probably been dealt with before as it seems it is quite common, but I have made a search and did not find any real answer to my question:
We have a 1980 450SL that we bought a couple of years ago with a cracked servo. The car has no heat or A/C. I tried to fix the servo with some rad repair goo, but it did not work. The car leaks some coolant, we top it off regularly.
Now we want to fix this, changing the servo for one with an aluminium body (easy), but we have started hearing stories about the servo not beinbg the only problem, the amplifier (what is this?) usually burns when the servo does not work and needs to be changed too... We are getting lost here!
So what is the scoop? What do we need?
I have never worked on a MB, so any help will be greatly appreciated!
We sell between 5 and 10 Servos for every amplifier, so no, the amplifier is definitely not an automatic replacement. The ACC amplifier is a small 3" x 3" electronic component that works with the Servo, and resides behind the glove compartment.
