OK, here goes, this will likely make a few of you out there grin (or grimace)... My nice, mostly restored, '68 280se 6 cyl sedan just sits in the garage. I am thinking I would use it again (time to be thinking about another daily driver) if it were diesel (turbo even better). But How much work would the conversion be? Electronics? Mounts? Cooling system? Will any later model engines bolt up to the original 4 speed tranny? which? Can it be done by a garage hack like me (I've swapped out like motors before, etc.) or is this for the experienced/trained only who would know all the subtleties? Is there someone in NC (western area) that might consider taking on such a job? Or is that just a waste of too many $ (better to sell her and get real about buying something stock)? Well, there it is, opinions and knowledge greatly appreciated.
