1970 280se coupe....Worth?
I am looking at a clean 1970 280se coupe, new paint (moss green), lots of new chrome, interior needs help ( new carpets, new seat covers and dash wood needs to be addressed. It has a 5sp tranny and working electric sunroof. Shifter has some play in it. The owner tells me it needs to be tightened.
Depending on how spiffy you want to make the interior (the acre of leather is expensive, ditto for the wood) this car could be an amazing bargain for anyting under 10K. The fact that it is a five speed (and are you positive on that one?) makes it an exceedingly rare machine. The sliding roof on the hardtop combined with the pillarless windows make it practically a cabrio anyway, without the added weight and extra hassles. The dash is a real pain to disassemble and reassemble (especially), but the seat covers are easy, just kinda expensive. I would be interested to see some pics posted. Good Luck!
