Cost of painting

In the next couple of years after prepping and doing body work on my 74 450 SEL, what is the average cost of a good to high quality paint job of entire car? It would be one solid color with clear coat. I've thought about Maaco, but have heard bad rumors of their work. I've considered inquiring at a Benz collision center. I'm in the Tidewater area of VA, any suggestions are appreciated.

Most shops won't do a paint job unless THEY do the prep work. {They can't tell how good of a job was done.} And putting a GREAT paint job on top of improper prep will NOT last long!!! And, EVERYONE will hear about a crappy paint job!!!!!!!!!!!RIGHT???? But to answer your question: My guess would be $2500-$3000 JUST to tape and shoot the paint. Your looking at $500-$750 just for paint and clear!!!! Good Luck!!!!!!!!!

own a compressor and have a garage? if so paint it yourself. All you need is a little practice and you can do so by "painting" the car with water and alcohol a few times and looking for runs...

You could spend anywhere between $700 - $7000. For the most part, you get what you pay for.
