Got my 240D

For a number of years my parents have said I can"have' their '74 240D (Aus spec), and yesterday on my birthday they finally signed her over to me.

Hate to admit it, but I acutally cired al lthe way home driving it (5km or so!!). Such a nice car to drive.

*removed pics because someone is using them for their own use*

Thats all I took today, but yeh...

I hope she lasts for another 33 years like she did for my parents

Good for you, it looks like you two are in love.

If you take care of her with half of the love your posts seem to get across, another 33 years for the 240 will be easy! Congratulations on your first Benz!

Very cool car , of course I am a little biased , having a 240D also. Great that you love it so much , please keep coming back here telling how it goes.

Look to actively chase rust , spray Tectyl in the cavities and seams under the body . Check that the windscreens and tail light seals are not leaking, change the oil regular , this car should last you out.

Yeh, the rear panel behind the back wheel was recently replaced because it rusted through. Came out perfectly though, you cant tell its been replaced at all.

We just started taking off the crappy stickers i thought were "cool" when I was about 14 or something, so just gonna start off by making her look new and shiny again. There is also a lot of sap on the car because she was an outside car.

Dusty... wow your car is VERY shiny... respray?

here are a few more pics i took tonight.

I cant really get her out of the shed cos my other car was in the way, and pushing 2 tonnes or whatever kinda hurts (rotator cuff tendinitis)...
