Unusual W113 SL

Yesterday, when I drove North on Hazeltine in Sherman Oaks, I noticed a beautiful chocolate brown W113 SL, similar to my friends in front of me, but the lettering on the trunk looked different. When I managed to get closer, the letters on the trunk said 300D on one side, and turbodiesel on the other.
Lic. plate 'Turbo SL,' must be a conversion. I was in a rush, otherwise I would have liked to stop and chat.

OMG Whiskey Tango Foxtrot

So someone put a DIESEL engine in one?

ahhhhhh, only in LA

Diesels don't belong in "sports cars" or "convertibles". And this was both.

The words don't even go together. Like Military Intelligence, Designer Jeans, Educational Television, etc.

If he'd known anything about how to do it right, he'd have had a special
"300 SL D" badge made.

Ha - I had one of those. Try driving it anywhere it actually became wintertime...
Those early VW diesels were sure warm-weather cars !

That said, modern 21st century TDi's are fantastic.
