I am beginning work on my Megasquirt conversion. I had a custom crankshaft trigger wheel fabricated for EDIS, had a distributor hole plug machined, using a Saab throttle position sensor, using Ford 19lbs injectors-they fit perfectly if D-Jetronic pintle caps are used-and a custom O-ring fuel rail to get rid of the hose clamps and short hoses on the injectors. The original D-jetronic injectors are hughly to large and will result in very short pulses-they are over 50lbs. That's probably why D-jetronic cars always seen to run rich. I am researching using Coil-on-plug with the EDIS.

I bought my MS V3 from DIYAutoTune.com Megasquirt Kits / Assembled Engine Management Systems, Wideband o2 Sensor Systems and tuning products. The service was great and the site is complete.

I just bought a 280SE 4.5 D-Jet fuel rail and injectors from a wrecking yard. They will fit my 420SEL well.

Megasquirt of a '75 450SL. MS1 v3 board

Getting into this project now. I've got the board pretty much built, and most all of the sensors accumulated. Plundered a Saab 9000 at a junkyard for ICV and TPS. I'm trying to hook up with a welder to fabricate a plate to put a wideband O2 sensor in place of a EGR valve on the manifold ('75 is the first year of the cat + exhaust manifold).

I originally planned to go fuel only, but it looks like the spark control would be not too much more to do. I need some input on how / where to get a crank sensor wheel attached. The harmonic balancer has 2 notches that need to be kept clear for access to two water pump bolts, so that is a complication. Does anyone have any suggestions or advice?

Thanks,
Scott

Trigger

If you have automatic transmission I would go at the bag of the engine. The automatic tranny has a starterwheel which is in between two distance plate of 3 mm, so you can use in the front a Triggerwheel instead of the spacer and the sensor goes dow near the oil pan. Look on 108---113 mods.

That sounds interesting. I do have the automatic. Does the transmission have to be pulled to do that? Do you have a link to any pictures or descriptions?

I seem to remember that some other makes have the Crank Position Sensor on the starter flex plate.

My problem is that I have to do this as economically as possible.
