My dad's '74 240D (w115) needs a new shift knob, and the OEM foam type are just... well they're foam! I want to get him a nice one for Father's Day, but I'm not too impressed with the usual "zebrano" and burl knobs on eBay.
Anyone know what other cars' knobs will interchange as far as threading? I'm looking at some aftermarket knobs, but nobody lists a '74 Mercedes in their parts lists.
Is the newer MB threading still the same in newer models as the old ones?
And by the way, most universal knobs aren't "safe" because this car has an upward reverse lockout (that is, you pull up and over to get into R). Thanks for your help.
