W111 Coupe Engine Bay Bulkhead Material

I am restoring the engine bay of my 61 220SEb W111 coupe. The material on the bulkhead is missing in some areas. Where can I locate close to correct material? Does this material have a quilted pattern or other texture? Is it a foam backed vinyl?

Thanks in advance.

Mine looks like horsehair. The covering is not quilted. The quilted variety is a reproduction. 230/250/280 SL's have a similar material.

Not part of the in-crowd since 1952. It's BRAKES not breaks. You break a bone, use brakes to stop your car. /rant

I bought some mylar-coated foam padding for my 280. It's advertsied as temp resistant, etc, so I'm wondering if one could use something like that for the engine bay. Check out JC Whitney - the catalogs they publish have all kinds of stuff in there for high temp applications. You'd need to cut the pieces to size, and the car wouldn't be "original" ...

It's a jute material with a black synthetic covering on the engine side. It's normqlly glued into place with regualr contact adhesive. It's normally very long lasting so if you want to have the corect factory look start checking out wrecks and recycle the best ones you can find.I scrape them off with a broad putty knife after I remove all throttle links, regualtors etc etc .
I am sure it's no longer available from the classic center,W109 stuff isn't as I have already tried to find it.
