smoother w108/9 climate controls?

Hey folks,
Does anyone know how to get these controls to move smoother and not be so tight? The bottom red levers are the problem; not so much the top two. Do I just squirt oil in the cables or something? Or is it usually the linkage attached to the blower?

You've either got stuck cables or the valve within the heater box is crappy (have you noticed any leakage?) . I replaced the blower motor in mine and don't remember the cables being in a sleeve or anything ...

I had to replace the seals in my heatercore, it was a ton of work. While I was in there I had the core re-furbed at a radiator shop, and then when I replaced the seals in the valves I also used some water proof grease. I also lubed the cables that control the valves from the levers on the dash. Remember to take lots of pictures or document what you are doing as you take it apart, especially the valves.

It is important to refurb this system before it breaks down.
