My Dash started smoking!

Okay, i finally got help to switch out the flexplate. So we put everything back together, man it sounds great now. then i noticed my brake lights, reverse lights, and the dash gauges werent working, i opened the fusebox and the #5 fuse was out, which goes to all those...so i rigged the fuse because i dont have any more (which is very stupid btw), then i was starting to go home and i saw my battery light come on then all of a sudden my dash started smoking, it stunk bad. I stopped and turned the car off before it caught fire. I took out the tin foiled fuse and turned the car back on, and there was no smoke. So now my brake and reverse lights along with my dash gauges all dont work until i can find the source of the fuse blowing problem. When we put the tranny back in, we forgot how to put the four wires that go into the auto tranny start up/back up light switch, so we just kinda guessed, could this be my problem? theres 2 green and 2 blue wiresthat plug into the side of the switch. Could anyone tell me the prder theyre supposed to be in if it is my fuse blowing problem.

...tin foil fuse? You probably melted a lot of wiring under the dash which can cause a catastrophic dash fire. I would take the dash apart and replace all of the damaged wiring before it catches fire.

I found the wire that smoked, it was one of the wires from the wiring harness that goes to the transmission. I figured we had plugged in the wires wrong, plus the wiring harness itself looks old, does anyone have a wiring diagram so i can plug it back in right
