All: I thought you'd enjoy my first pictures of my newly acquired '64 111 Coupe. As you can tell from the photos, the car has been sitting in a Tulsa, OK carport for over five years. I have a lot of clean-up to do, but since the photos, I have started the car and it runs GREAT!!! I now must (1) replace the water pump and (2) unstick the right rear wheel where I suspect the brake shoe has rust bonded to the drum. The car is almost rust free and the interior is wonderful (but needs cleaning like the outside of the car. Problem is...the weather in Oklahoma has been so bad...and with that frozen right rear wheel to deal with...that I have not be able to move the car out of my garage to get serious clean-up done. I am ecstatic about the car and it's overall condition.

Nice project. Keep posting photos of its progress.
What is it with 111s today. I just bought a 68 280SE Coupe for $1000 that "needs work" about two hours ago. It is going to be next years project but needed to get covered and started this year to insure that all that is there stays there.
That's fantastic! You're lucky it started. Now you need to get the leaves out of all the nooks and crannies. Checl the hoot and trunk lid drains to make sure they are not blocked. You will probably need to replace a lot of rubber and grease the door hinges.
I have a 111 sedan, but your 2 door is much more valuable.

Well last evening I completed the installation of the new water pump. The job turned out to require a lot more time than a normal water pump replacement should have for a 111 coupe because the pump was 75 per cent blocked by the mounting plate for the Port-installed a/c compressor. Not only was the water blocked by the compressor support, but it appears almost impossible to remove the top off of the air cleaner because it is covered by a/c hoses to and from the condenser unit. I'll show some pics of what I mean tomorrow. Still, I'm pleased the new pump is installed and everything is back together. Now its time for me to go unstick that right rear wheel so I can get the car outside to wash down.

Very true - the next time it will take you 1/2 as long. Hopefully you had an allen bolt for the one behind the vibration dampner. Line up the hole and it is out. Some idiot mechanic used a bolt on mine. I had to shave down a wrench and it probably still took an hour. Allen bolt - 60 seconds.
I changed the York compressor to a Sanden - worthwhile upgrade.

Congrats. I am looking foward to follow your progress. A old friend of my departed Father still has his 220SE coupe (Germany, first owner & similar to yours) with only 80k or so KM total. One of these days I am hoping to talk him into selling the car to me.
