So what's the story of it being left at the airport? Did the owner pass while on a trip or something? I could not imagine just leaving something that nice in a parking lot

Wagon Train: That's a "carport" not an "airport". I could see why it would be confusing if someone left a 220SEb Coupe at an airport (although a lot of fellas have hanger space rented for the purpose of storing their cars). I purchased this car from an avid car collector (he has over 35 cars including a '71 280SE 3.5 Cabriolet and a short wheelbase w100, along with Masserati s and Porches). So one car more or less can get lost. He had this particular car stored in the carport of a home he had owned and rented out. He just more or less ignored the 220SEb Coupe and never started the car or washed it or drove it. I know it is amazing, but that's what happened. I'm just thankful that I became aware of the car and its owner and was able to purchase it for myself.

111 are great choices
If your find is actually as pristine as it looks in the pictures, you are one lucky person. Congratulations and enjoy your project. I have a 63 cabriolet that gives me much pleasure. Suggest converting the distributer to a Pertronix. Gregg

Greg: That Cabriolet of yours is truly beautiful. Those European headlights make all the difference on that front end!
I saw your engine compartment on another stream and captured the photo for myself as some sort of goal down the road for mine.
Not only is my '64 220SEb not a Cabriolet...it doesn't even have a sunroof. I fing that unusual for a USA bound coupe.
Thank you for your good comments.
