1960 Mercedez Benz 300d

Hello everyone,

I have found and purchased Mercedes Benz 300d Limousine. The car itself looks amazing, but needs a lot of work, because it was resting on the farm field for over 30 years. The amazing thing was that, when the owner showed me the milege on this car, i was amazed. 2350 miles. I purchased it right away than towed to my house. Hot wired the egnition and its started! i put in "D" Drive and it runs. I am so excited and i will be restoring this car and keeping it for my self.

I have a question thought, i payed 850$ for it, the car doesnt have no title, neither bill of sale was arranged. I heard that there is the way to do the title, anyone is familiar with this procedure?

Thank you,

Serge,

I don't know about how titles work, but I sure hope you post photos of your new treasure. We are all very anxious to see your new find (regardless of condition).

Thank you.

Welcome to BenzWorld Serge300d! Contact your local Dept. of Transportation and see what they have to say about it. I'm sure they'll be able to familiarize you with the requirements.

Serge

Hello,

I will visit Motor Vehicle department next monday, i am out of State right now and i will be back home in one week. I will post Photos next Monday also. I just thought maybe someone else on this forum have had the same issue with title? It is very old car, i figured it is common for the title to be lost. I tried running Vin number trhough CarFax but it doesnt show any info on my mercedes.

Anyway, thanks for welcoming me

It's a fairly rare model -- information on your particular vehicle is bound to be scarce.

You shouldnt have much problem with it, being as old as it is they know its not hot!

Let me know what youre doing to the car. Let me reiterate, I love the 300 audenauer limo.

There is a very active 300 Adenauer group on Yahoo. I'm sure a search will bring it up. If not, I can dig out the info for you.

Peoples28 - That ITS Home Page, it doesnt look very trustfull in my opinion. Have you ever heard that anyone did the Title through them?
300 Adenauer group on Yahoo? I will search for their web site tonight, thanks for telling me about it. By the way, i could fly back home on Friday so i might post photos on Friday as well, or probably Saturday if my plans wont change.

Thank you,
Serge

no

No ive never known anyone to use that site to actually get a title. You might want to find one that specializes in classic cars so that you know that its legit. If i find out anything that might help ill let you know.

Significant Cars, inc.
Here is a more professional, more legit looking service that could probably do you some good.

Go to the Motor Vehicle Department

Go to the Motor Vehicle Department for your state and discuss the details. There should be no charge to tell you what it will cost to get a title. Each state has different laws. In Oklahoma, you have to pay back tags for several years and penalties, but old car (over 20 years) tags are cheap - about $23 per year. If you get the run around, you may be able to go to another county and ask again.

This is not an uncommon problem in the old car hobby and is solved in the ussual way - time and money!

1980 300D W123 (Parts car - engine runs, but trashed)
1981 240D W123 4 speed ( In sad shape when bought - many parts from '80 300D has back on the road. Needs work, but shows promise.)
