oil leak

I have a 1969 280 se. I have replace the rear oil seal 3 times. I have had it line bored. The last time I replaced it, it lasted about 3 weeks and then started leaking again. Has anyone had a similar experience?

"Repair Size" oil seal

Hi,
Did you use a "Repair size" oil seal? There is a seal available with the sealing lip offset so it dosen't run in the same spot on the crankshaft. The seal can wear a groove in the crankshaft after some time and will not seal properly. They are a dealer item(At least with the M116 and M117 engines)

Yeah, not on this car though. The six-bangers use a rope seal in the rear.
