Take it from someone who knows these engines intimately, any 600 that is not driven is JUNK.Seriously expensive JUNK.
If you visit www.M-100.cc
and read through the postings on the message board it will be seen that the main problem lays with the injection pump.An overhaul because of lack of use will cost $1500-$2000 for the pump work. You still have to get it off the engine!.Theres an hour or twos labour there involving the removal of the intake on the left hand side.
Oh yes,I can here some one saying."why not just buy a new pump?" .
I'll tell you 'why not'...there is the matter of $48,000 ...for the new pump from Daimler Chrysler.
So at 4000 miles ( it is most probably 104000 miles or more ) the engine is in need of some serious recommisioning and I bet you were thinking you scored the deal of the century..right?
Karl Middlehuave, the worlds leading expert in America of 600's will tell you that "a 600 is a $200,000 car...buy one for $20,000 and it will cost you $180,000 to get it road worthy."
As for any Rolls,I drive a Mercedes and I wouldn't urinate on a roller if it were on fire.
