Whats the best looking mb diesel coupe ?

Ok I bought my first MBenz, a 85 300D. Now im hooked on Diesels and Benzes. I want to spend my midlife crisis on a coupe - but it has to be a diesel. Any input ? Right now - im looking for a pre-80's era coupe that I can work on. So far, the 123's (300CD) are the easiest to find. Is there anything more classic looking?

in Diesel? Nope.....
the only alternative in MB coupe land is the W-209 CLK 270 CDI...... a world of difference though

The only diesel coupes were W123s. Others were gas only (Thanks Be To God!).

My old car

I had an old 1980 300cd. I can tell you two things about cd's. First, beware of rust, those cars will rust from the frame straigght upward. Second beware of repair bills. Your servo might go, replace with digital upgrade from performance mercedes. The back coupe windows usually break and theyre a pain to fix cause you have to go in through the trunk to replace the regulators. Everything else is pretty much the same as a 300d which makes them pretty simple. Ill tell you this though, if you get one make sure you get the best one that you can find for the price. You dont want to try to do a resto on one, I tried and failed

I think that's true of just about all MBs.

The only MB diesel coupe in America is the w123 300CD.

Therefore, that'd be the best-looking one.

There is a fellow currently involved in attempting to create a W126 diesel coupe, by transplanting a 300 Diesel engine into it.

It's a huge job, and the engine might be too tall, so he'd have to do some hood modifications to make it fit. Rear end, speedo, tranny, many other issues to address, as well...

What would you call this - a 300SCD or what.

I think he is called "ICEFIRE" or something and is on www.*****************

His efforts are being met with met with some scepticism, to wit.

MSshop Member #1: "Why would he want to put a diesel engine in a 500SEC coupe? That would be like cutting off its balls"

MSshop Member #2: "Haha, my wife already did that to *me*!!"

Jim B.

To be continued............

126 diesel coupe = 300SDC (non existant)

Puting 320CDI engine into SEC would give it a lotta wa-wa-woom
Viable?
dunno
