I just came back from a salvage yard that has about 1300 Benz from the 50-90's and they are getting ready to CRUSH between 800 and 1000 of them in the next three weeks. I spent a few hours today in 5 Degree windchill taking pictures and getting a feel of the yard to give everyone an opportunity to see if there is anything they need NOW. I just found this place even though it is only 80 miles from my home [who knew?!!?!?!?!]
They are going to crush the following models pretty much en masse:
They also have metric sh*t loads of other cars that are in the yard that need homes or that have parts. I have NO AFFILIATION with these guys. The owner is getting on in years and his memory is the only inventory system. The young lady that is taking over does not want the old stuff as she does not know a 108 from a 116 and does not care. They are not online nor do they want to be.
My recommendations would be to buy entire cars if possible as they have little help to pick parts and unless there is motivation the cars will be crushed. My bet is that cars can be picked up for 200-500 bucks for most of them.
I am going to be taking my crew up for the next 6 days and working ahead of the crusher to get some stuff for my shop. You can email me with a wish list, based on the pics and the list above and I will give it to them and let them try and match it. I talked them into not starting the crush until Monday so I could get a few days head start.
EMAIL ME AT bear@mcbear.biz do not PM, my box is almost full.
Oh my, not the Pontons...please tell me they're not killing any Pontons?!?!
I believe the Ponton's have been saved. I picked up a couple of 54 170's and am considering one of the nicer ponton's that is there. It has been removed from the X pile. He is going to keep 500 or so cars of the 1300-1500 that are there. We agreed that no "round bodies" would go. Nor would any SL's or Coupes.
As an example, someone is coming to get FOUR of these 300S so they are safe.
