I vote for restoring to fully stock - except for some nice custom paint and 123 turbodiesel and transmission

Jees...

If I was going to change the engine, I wouldn't go to all that trouble for a 123 turbodiesel! W126 V8? Definitely.

my vote is that you restore it to its original state except for certain things (e.g. a/c, cooling, radio) for practical reasons. good luck on your project! share your progress with us here in this thread.

Smile 230 S Universal

Hi streetrules,
I am the guy that ended up buying the 230 S Universal wagon in Texas.
I am intrigued by you writing about your restoration in Classic cars.
I am a vivid reader of your magazine and wanted to make sure I see all your reports on your progress.
I am also restoring my Universal and know of several others that are being restored.
Mybe we can exchange ideas and hints /help as we go through the process.
Thanks, Chris Trosch, Malibu, Calif.

wow, nice find.
I dig your aviator as well.
I've been reading Lowrider for over 20 years.
My uncle was part of Grouppe car club in the 70's
and that's where I got hooked.
Good luck with the project.

I Agree fully, make it a really nice driver. Put some miles on her.. I might even see a nice vintage style woody luggage rack on top of her ... Did they make any of the finnie wagons with a sunroof?

Great project tho, after a good pressure wash you gotta let us see what the damage is. Very interested in seeing what the uk countryside can do to an old girl, being in california you only find cars like that in swamps hahaha.
