You kinda have a chicken or egg first situation on the EFI system. You say the mechanic says fuel pump is fine, but what does that mean? That car won't run unless the computer receives a signal stating it is running. It won't send a signal stating it is running. Your mechanic needs to hook a voly meter to the two connections at the pump and check voltage with key just turned on. He should see a voltage reading for a few seconds, and then it drops to zero. The fuel system has a floating ground, so he must connect to the pump and not chassis ground. If hr gets the 12 volts temporarilly, I suspect the ECU or the trigger points in the base of the distributor. You may have a massive air leak also, because you only say you can't get it to idle.
