M117 tune-up info

Hi folks, newbie here with official post #1!

I've got a '72 280SEL4.5. It's in what I call semi-advanced middle age with only around 300k miles, so it's nicely broken in. It's also in the fortunate position as an occasional car and doesn't have to drive every day in all weather. It's in need of a few things, but right now I'm looking to do a valve adjust with a good tune-up. However, I have't been able to find what to adjust them to, so that's my first question (probably I just haven't found the right place to look). I've already stockpiled fuel and vacuum lines and am looking for any more sage advice with open ears.
