Question Factory Options

Hi all,

I recently purchased a 69 280SE. It has the floor mounted automatic transmission. In other 280's i've noticed some have a column shift.

Can anyone tell me why this is?

Another oddity in my 280 is the passenger seat has a head rest but the drivers doesn't. There are no holes for one to be inserted.

Thanks in Advance

Hi James, some cars have a column or in your case floor mounted transmission. I believe it was an option as with the headrest which was probably a cost cutting option but I can't be certain.

You also have a W108 so you're not going to get as many responses in the W116 forum. I would repost in the vintage section and see if you get more responses.

Congrats on your purchase!
