Engine Swap 230 to 280 or other??

New to Benzworld, HELP, !!!I have a 1966 230 SL, European. it runs, but Not well, looking to find a good used engine. Will a 250 or 280 fit?
Don't get mad, American Engine??

No reason at all that wouldn't fit. If the car is in good shape, it would behoove you to repair what you have though...

You can swap any similar size engine in for another (any six cyl to any other six) and most times you can swap from a four to a six, or from a six to an eight without worrying about space in the bay. The only problem with switching from a Mercedes engine to an American engine is the amount of work you need to do to convert everything in the car to the American system

I have a 1973 280 sedan, and I've thought about switching the 2.8L in it for a Ford 302 5.0. However, it would be over $5000 dollars for all of the necessary parts to do it, not to mention weeks of labor.

My suggestion is to work on the engine in there. Unless there are some problems with the block itself (cracks or poor machining) you can turn that engine around with little problem.
