Yes, I finally got it today! I picked it up at the border and drove it home, about 220 km through the mountains (135 miles). Unfortunately the weather was horrible: rain, fog, wind, even snow! Vive le Canada!
But I am quite impressed with the car: no rust, all chrome is nice and shiny, no missing trim, interior very clean but the driver's side map pocket is gone and passenger's side is falling off. All gauges work, even the clock and odometer!
Engine purrs well, transmission shifts relatively smoothly and the car feels very tight. Starts easily and idles smoothly. Oil pressure is 15 at idle in park, 13 idle in drive or reverse and 45 when driving. Is that normal? Temperature steady at 175.
2 more questions: The amber lights below the headlights are very pale and faded. Is it still possible to buy new ones? Would make the car look much better! And does anyone know if that bright red was an original MB color in 1973? I find it doesn't go well with the car's character!
