Is repainting a 1970 280 Taboo?

I've got a 1970 280 that really needs a new paint job and a small bit of rust repair. Is it wrong to repaint the car. Its not like these are hard to find highly prized collectables, right? Do I need to repaint the same color?
Thanks,
JR

It depends... I repainted my 1980 and repaired the rust because I love the car and my friend who painted it owed me $$. The quandry is: why spend more on paint and body work than the car is worth?? Only because you enjoy the car and want to see it in great condition. Maybe you plan on keeping it (like me!).

In regards to color, there are several factors to consider. If you keep the same color, the "inside areas", door jams, under hood wheel wells, supports, etc. will not have to be changed. Also, by keeping the same color, it keeps the car at a higher value because it is "original". But, it is your car... if you want to change the color, do it!

Good luck, let us know what you decide.

It's your car -- do whatever floats your boat.
