1959 190D question

I have a chance to pick one of these up for cheap. I would probably do a full restore if I do. Can anybody point me in the right direction as to its value, rarity, and difficulty of obtaining parts?

I would have to recommend against. A 190D is only valuable in showroom condition, and parts availability is tenuous at best. Too much work for too little reward, IMHO...

It's also slower than frozen molasses, which is saying something.

To present an opposing view, we've got a group of over 500 ponton owners who are in love with their cars regardless of model. We have some 180 and 190 diesel owners who would have nothing else. Parts are not that expensive or hard to find. As with nearly every car you buy, do not ever expect to make any money on it. Buy it because you want it.

Lots of good info here - http://www.mbzponton.org/.

Also consider joining our ponton group at http://autos.groups.yahoo.com/group/ponton/. We've got about 500 owners in the group and the level of expertise is incredible.
