what is it!

hi,
i'm new to the forums. joined so i can ask what model this car is. i've had the picture on my computer for a year or two, and always dreamed of having this model benz.
the closest model i've found in my searching is a mid 1970's 240(D). am i close?

sadly, this is the only picture i saved. i know the thread i found it on (not on benzworld), but with my 18kb/s dialup, i dont have the few weeks to search through pages and pages of cars to find this.

if it is a 1970s 240, i'm quite excited, because i found one for sale locally/cheap that runs and is in OK condition, and i may splurge
if not, its back to searching until i find one for sale

thanks for your help,

by the looks of the front of that, IE clear covered headlights, windshield wipers, chrome bumpers, and black/chrome grill, it looks like an early 220....?

if so, how close in body style/size, etc, is the 240 to the 220? i'm really looking for this model of car, but have only found 240s for sale.

thanks for the replys,

The car is a 114 or 115 sedan, which includes a variety of models procuded between 1968-1976. Models include 200D, 220, 220D, 230, 240D, 250, 250E, 280, 300D. In addition to the unattractive aftermarket rims, the car has had it's door handles removed -- very strange.
