JetTronic vs. Electronic Fuel injection?
In speaking with my dad, he mentioned that the JetTronic constant injection system is much much better than the electronic system currently in my '73 280SE 4.5, and that I should locate a system and swap out the guts of it all, the upside being better fuel consumption.
Anyone ever heard of this? Is this a nasty job to do? Would I need to get a different distributor?
Better fuel consumption is not a given with Jetronic. What is a given is much better reliability. However, such a conversion is problematic. You'd be somewhat better off swapping your engine for one with Jetronic, but even then it's not exactly painless.
