1968 220D information

Anybody know a good site for finding information on a 1968 220D (W115) ?
I can't even find a VIN decoder for it.
I'd like to know information like, ....
How to determine the options that originally shipped with the car.
Where was the car made?
What was the original color.

Can anyone help?

I have a 1971 220D and I was able to find all of the information that you are requesting my sending an email to the Mercedes-Benz classic center. When the cars were shipped to the U.S., they had a pink card that had all the codes that designate options. I had the pink card for my car, but in their email response, they included a scanned copy of the master build card and listed all of the options and colors that were on my car. There was no charge for this service as well. Hope this helps and keep the W115 /8 on the road.

Thanks for the help. Just found the website and sent an email. We'll see what they say.

I did that same thing, email the classic MB place. Its actually pretty cool how the build sheet comes back. Mine actually had some handwriting on it. Its a great little MB perk.

This is also a good site for looking up the 3 digit option codes:
