Question Rear Door stuck & locked 1973 280sel 4.5

I can't get the rear door on the driver's side open. The door lock is about half way up and won't pull up or down. When trying to open from the outside, the button pushes in but it is really loose (no resistance). Same when pulling on the inside latch. Some more information on the status of the vacuum system: The other doors are fine though the vacuum system works partially on the passenger side meaning, when I lock the door they will not lock, when I unlock the door they will unlock. Any thoughts?

Bad vacuum actuators perhaps? If you can manage to take off the door skins (I imagine it would be tricky with the door closed), you would see the vacuum actuator on the lower part of the door - a round object with a long rod sticking out of it, which in turn connects to the door lock. It's easy to disconnect (again, with the door open and all parts easy to get to).
