Exhaust Manifold

Does anyone have a suggestion of how to get at the exhaust manifold nuts on a 280SEL 4.5L? I am working on the driver's side (left) and see difficulities with the bottom nut closest to the firewall. Also it doesn't look like there is enough space to remove the manifold once I have it unbolted. I bought the repair CDs from Mercedes and it doesn't list anything for my model only for others which doesn't really help.

Thanks for any help,
John-Glen

undo both engine mounts and using a block of wood under the sump, and a floor jack lift the engine about 2" .it is easier to get to the nut from under the car also.If you are removiung the heads,I find it easier to leave the manifolds on the heads and use the shop crane to lift them clear of the block, they're not heavy just awkward and you don't want scratched paint.
